Tarek AbuZayyad

Associate Partner

Tarek has over 20 years’ experience in M&A, private equity / venture capital and asset management for families and institutions.

He was a partner at Stanhope for eight years focused on Merchant Banking as well as the Middle East Region and was formerly a Managing Director at Berggruen Holdings, a family office / private equity firm, and a Director in M&A / Corporate Finance at Credit Suisse Group and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in both New York and London. Tarek is currently a director of Lorne Stewart, Smit Lamnalco, MH Luxe, Blossom M&C, Mindshapes and Orient Real Estate. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University and of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.

Tarek holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB Economics from Stanford University.

Diego has 25 years of experience in investment banking, wealth management, asset allocation and manager selection based in London advising prominent HNWI and families.Founder of Fund Advisors (U.K.) Limited, a London based multi family office providing custom portfolios including hedge funds, managed futures and private equity. Diego was formerly Head of M&A at Citicorp London, building the financing of deals and investment management into the product offering. At the Banque de la Societé Financière Européenne, Paris, he was an officer in the M&A department working on European cross border deals.Diego holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a degree in electrical engineering from the ETH, the Swiss Fed. Institute of Technology, in Zurich.

Alexander has 20 years of experience in the US Equity Market, and was latterly Director of UBS Warburg London after 10 years working in New York.He was at Sagitta Asset Management before its acquisition by Fleming Family and Partners. He is a trustee and advisor to several substantial UK Families.

Claudia Taittinger

Claudia has over 20 years of experience in the financial markets. Formerly founding Partner and CEO of Alpha Value Management where she provided investment advice on hedge funds and managed funds of hedge funds for high net worth individuals. Before that she worked for 8 years at Lazard Frères in Paris as a director in the equity capital markets department.She spent 4 years at Banque du Louvre as a Director in the institutional product department.

Claudia holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration and a Doctoral Thesis on Gold and Metal Markets from USACH, Universidad de Santiago, Chile.

William J Tyne, Jr.

William retired from Bessemer Trust in early 2009 where he was a Managing Director and Senior Resident Officer of Bessemer Trust’s London office and was a member of Bessemer Trust’s Management Committee.

From 1998 until 2007, he was responsible for Bessemer Trust’s alternative investment business, including Private Equity, Hedge Funds, Real Estate and Exchange Funds. From 1992 to 1998, William was Chairman of Alex. Brown & Sons Investments Limited and in charge of Alex. Brown’s principal investment activities, including its alternative investment business. Before joining Alex. Brown, he was founder and shareholder of Jamestown Investments Limited, a corporate finance firm headquartered in London and acquired by Alex. Brown.William is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. degree in history.

Tarek Kassem

Tarek Kassem is a prominent financier and banker with strong business experience and a keen interest in and links to the Arab world. His banking career stretches back some 35 years in the City of London, and his roles have always had a Middle East dimension.

He has extensive experience of investment banking, including capital markets, structured finance, corporate finance, private equity, venture capital and project financing. He also founded and ran a London based international investment bank, and set up a property investment company. His investment banking career has been based around his relationships in the Middle East, especially the Gulf. He has an extensive client base including the ruling families of several Gulf states and the major merchant families and industrial groups.

David Waxman has more than 20 years of experience in the Wealth Management business.

His extensive asset management background goes from being Senior Vice President for the Safdie group for NY, Geneva and Zurich for 5 years to then joining the Safra Group, becoming a Managing Director at Safra National Bank of New York in Miami for 10 years heading the Latam UHNW desk and managing a multibillion portfolio. David also has been a Hedge Fund Manager in NY and Miami and during the last couple of years he entered the Real Estate market in the US through his company Ansasi Capital LLC.

He has very close business ties to Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Chile and Central America.

Benoît Fally

Co-Founder of PrivateLending, a B2B peer to peer lending platform based in Belgium.

From 1994 to 2014, Benoît was the Senior Vice President in charge of Continental Europe at State Street Global Advisors (SSGA), the asset management division of the State Street group.

Benoît spearheaded the development of SSGA in the region and grew the business from scratch into:

  • a profitable book of business representing $ 200 billion of AUM ,
  • a pan European business with presence in several jurisdictions and relationships with more than 500 institutional investors .

Prior to joining SSgA, Benoît was a Senior Auditor at Deloitte, Touche, Tohmatsu, one of the leading accounting firms, where he was responsible for auditing brokers, banks and various industrial companies.

Benoît holds a BA in Finance and Economics from the HEC in Brussels, a Masters in Taxes from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and he passed the degree of the European Association of Financial Analysts.

Benoît is an active shareholder in several Belgian startups, My Micro Invest, Zen Car, Auctelia,

He is a regular speaker about intergenerational management, generation Y, illiquid investments and alternative financing mechanisms.

Bernard Kalfon

Bernard Kalfon

Bernard has more than 20 years experience in financial markets, working for famous institutions such as Salomon Brothers-Citibank and Bear Sterns, where he ran multi-billion dollar derivatives portfolios (vanilla & exotics options) and developed proficiency in risk management and proprietary trading.

In 2000 he joined Société Générale Asset Management in Paris to help launch the hedge fund business unit of the bank. He received multiple awards (Euro hedge and HFR awards for best hedge fund for the years 2008 & 2009). In 2009 he co-founded Nexar Capital Group specialized in hedge funds (Fund of hedge funds, volatility hedge fund, hedge fund advisory…). The company was sold in 2012 to UBP, a Swiss based private bank. After more than 2 years working closely with the bank’s management, Mr. Kalfon left UBP to pursue personal and entrepreneurial projects.

Mr. Kalfon holds a postgraduate degree in Finance and Economics from La Sorbonne University in Paris and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics.

Julien Sevaux

Julien co-founded Stanhope Capital in 2004, selling his ownership in 2017 to develop a new venture.

Julien has over 25 years of investment experience in public and private markets on behalf of leading entrepreneurs and industrial families.

He is a former board member of Worms & Cie, the diversified banking and industrial family group. Prior to co-founding Stanhope Capital, he was a principal in Lehman Brothers’ Private Equity Group and formerly a senior M&A banker at Lehman in New York and London.

Julien received his MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, his BA from Brown University and is an alumnus of Oxford University.
