Daniel Pinto

Chief Executive, Founding Partner

Daniel Pinto is Chief Executive and Founding Partner of Stanhope Capital. He chairs the firm’s Wealth Management Executive Committee. He has considerable experience in wealth management and merchant banking having advised some of Europe’s most prominent families and industrialists for over 20 years. Formerly Senior Banker at UBS Warburg in London and Paris concentrating on mergers and acquisitions, he was a member of the firm’s executive committee in France. He was also Chief Executive of a private equity fund backed by CVC Capital Partners.

Daniel founded the New City Initiative, a think tank comprised of the leading independent UK and European investment management firms. He sits on several prominent boards and investment committees and regularly contributes economic and financial editorials to leading newspapers. He is the author of ‘Capital Wars’ a book published by Bloomsbury in early 2014. His book won the prestigious Prix Turgot (“Prix du Jury”) and the HEC/Manpower Foundation prize.

Daniel holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MA in Economics from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and an MSc in Finance from Université Paris-Dauphine.

Julien Sevaux


Julien co-founded Stanhope Capital in 2004, selling his ownership in 2016 to develop a new venture.  Although he is focusing on managing his new venture, he retains his role on the investment committee and continues to manage clients.

Julien has over 25 years of investment experience in public and private markets on behalf of leading entrepreneurs and industrial families.

He is a former board member of Worms & Cie, the diversified banking and industrial family group. Prior to co-founding Stanhope Capital, he was a principal in Lehman Brothers’ Private Equity Group and formerly a senior M&A banker at Lehman in New York and London.

Julien received his MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business, his BA from Brown University and is an alumnus of Oxford University.

Jonathan Bell

Partner, Chief Investment Officer

Jonathan is a Partner and the Chief Investment Officer of the Group. He is also a member of the Wealth Management Executive Committee.Jonathan has 25 years of experience in fund management, asset allocation and manager selection. Jonathan was formerly Chief Investment Officer of Newton Private Investment Management and a member of Newton’s Executive Management committee, overall investment committee and strategy group responsible for the $37 billion under management. Previously he held senior positions at Principal Investment Management and BZW Portfolio Management.A Fellow of the Securities Institute, Jonathan received his MBA from Cranfield School of Management and holds a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics. Jonathan is the author of ‘Start With The Map The Right Way Up’, an introduction to investment, and of numerous investment related articles.

Tarek AbuZayyad

Associate Partner

Tarek has over 20 years’ experience in M&A, private equity / venture capital and asset management for families and institutions.

He was a partner at Stanhope for eight years focused on Merchant Banking as well as the Middle East Region and was formerly a Managing Director at Berggruen Holdings, a family office / private equity firm, and a Director in M&A / Corporate Finance at Credit Suisse Group and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in both New York and London. Tarek is currently a director of Lorne Stewart, Smit Lamnalco, MH Luxe, Blossom M&C, Mindshapes and Orient Real Estate. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University and of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging.

Tarek holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB Economics from Stanford University.


Ivo Coulson

Partner, Head of Portfolio Management

Ivo is a Partner and the Head of Portfolio Management. He is also a member of the Wealth Management Executive Committee.

Ivo has over 30 years of experience in fund management, asset allocation and manager selection. Formerly a Director of BZW Portfolio Management and SG Warburg, he has extensive experience in all areas of wealth management. In addition, he ran a hedge fund for a number of years, and was heavily involved in proprietary trading whilst at Warburgs. Ivo was also rated no. 1 in the annual Extel survey for his work in the Investment Trust sector.

Ivo graduated from Cambridge University in 1985 with an MA in law. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment  (“CISI”) and serves on the board of several private and public companies.

James Hordern

Partner, Head of Investment Research

James has over 20 years of experience in investment management. He was formerly a main board Director at Dalton Strategic Partners.James began his career at Mercury Asset Management before moving to head up the European, EAFE and Global Specialist Strategies at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.

James is a Member of the Investment Advisory Panel of the Royal College of Physicians, a Director of the Salters’ Management Company and a Director of the Corporate Trustee Company of South Kensington Estates. James is also a Trustee of the Henry Smith Charity.

He graduated from Durham University in 1990 with a B.A. in Modern Languages and is an Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals. He is also an Associate of the CFA Society of the UK.

Nicole Curti

Partner, Head of  Stanhope Capital Switzerland, Chief Operating Officer Stanhope Group

Nicole joined Stanhope Capital in 2008 after ten years in the Key Client division at Lombard Odier in Geneva. She was recruited to create Stanhope Capital Switzerland and build it into the Group’s second hub after London.

In 2011 she was promoted to the Partnership, becoming the first woman partner at Stanhope. A year later, Nicole became group Chief Operating Officer, responsible for approximately 30 employees working within the middle office, IT and administration departments.

In 2013, she joined the firm’s Executive Committee, a group comprised of 4 partners and chaired by the CEO, Daniel Pinto.

Nicole has a BA in Political Science from Université de Lausanne and an MBA from ESADE (Barcelona). She is involved in various university and community related activities such as the Swiss Association of MBAs. She is fluent in German, French, English, Italian and Spanish and is married with two children.

Guy Paterson

Partner, Portfolio Management

Guy has 25 years’ experience of the financial markets. Prior to joining Stanhope, Guy ran the London operation of Unigestion Family Investment Office from 2001 to 2010.He specialises in advising families and trusts on the design and implementation of investment policy. From 1996 to 2001 Guy headed the client advisory practices of Guinness Mahon and Granville Baird.

Guy qualified as a chartered accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell before spending ten years in corporate finance. He was subsequently chief executive of Linguaphone Group plc, an international language publisher, before returning to investment markets.

He graduated with an MA in History from Oxford University.

Simon Paul

Partner, Portfolio Management

Simon has been looking after the financial affairs of wealthy families for over 30 years, much of that time in some of London’s preeminent Private Banks including Kleinwort Benson, Barclays Private Bank, Schroders and HSBC Private Bank. More recently he headed up the client relationship function at multifamily office Sand Aire where his focus was on the structuring and development of investment strategy for a small group of wealthy European clients.With a background in investment management and portfolio construction, Simon is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and a Chartered Wealth Advisor and was educated at the London Business School.

Jamie Korner

Partner, Charities Team

Jamie has almost 30 years of experience in investment management. He is a Partner and member of the charities team at Stanhope Capital.

Jamie was formerly Director of Charities at Newton, for which he worked from 1995 to 2011 and, with his team, built Newton into the foremost manager by value of charitable assets in the United Kingdom. At the same time he managed Newton’s Common Investment Fund, the Global Growth and Income Fund for Charities and was rated highly by Citywire for his management of Newton’s Equity and Bond Fund. Prior to joining Newton, Jamie worked for M & G (1989-1995) as a unit trust and institutional manager, having moved from Fielding Newson-Smith after its takeover by the National Westminster Bank. His original career, after a period in farming, began in 1978 at Inchcape, the overseas trading group, where he was responsible for carrying out the restructuring of the group companies in East Africa.

Jamie graduated from Cambridge University in 1977 with an MA in History. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Geographical Society. He is also a non-executive director of Henderson Value Trust PLC and acts as trustee and advisor to a number of charities in the fields of art and education.

John Baron

Partner, Chief Financial Officer

John has 25 years’ experience working in the financial services industry.

Prior to joining Stanhope, he worked in a number of different senior financial roles within UBS, ABN AMRO and Merrill Lynch, managing a wide range of different financial exposures. As Chief Financial Officer he is responsible for all of the group’s statutory, regulatory and management reporting. John qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers & Lybrand.

He graduated with a BA in Economics from Exeter University.

Alice Ryder

Partner, Stanhope Consulting

Alice has over 25 years of investment experience including 12 years advising substantial charity and not for profit clients.She is a Partner of Stanhope Capital and Head of Stanhope Consulting.After graduating in Modern History from Bristol University, Alice spent 17 years as an investment manager, initially at Henderson Administration and then at Framlington Investment Management. During this period she managed portfolios for leading institutional clients, including pension funds and a large ethically constrained charity.Alice is a non-executive director of BlackRock North American Income Trust PLC and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment. In the second half of 2014, Alice sat on the Commission set up by ACEVO (the Association of Chief Executives for Voluntary Organisations) to produce a report into ethical and responsible investment in the not for profit sector.

Naveed Chaudhry

Partner, Head of Alternatives and Fixed Income

Naveed has nearly 20 years of experience in the wealth management industry. He was formerly at Duemme Capital (Banca Esperia) where he was leading research for hedge fund investments.Prior to that Naveed was a senior member of the fund of hedge funds team at Schroders and spent 9 years at Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch mainly as an investment manager in the fixed income team.

Naveed is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a BSc in Banking and International Finance from Cass Business School.

Christophe Karpiel

Chief Investment Risk Officer (Global) and Head of Investment Management (Geneva)

Christophe has more than 30 years of experience in investment management. He is Head of Investment Management in Geneva, and Chief Investment Risk Officer globally.

Christophe has extensive experience in the HNW and UHNW private client world, having worked as Deputy Head of HNWI/UHNWI Portfolio Management at BNPP AM GPM, Paris from 2005 until 2014, and as Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Fund Picking at IXIS AM PCM, Paris from 1998 until 2005.

Prior to joining IXIS AM PCM, Christophe was Head of Financial Engineering and ALM at ABN Amro France (formerly OBC Bank) in Paris from 1990 until 1997, and Head of Portfolio Management and Financial Analysis at SOREFI Nord-Pas de Calais in Roubaix, France from 1987 until 1989. He began his career at Européenne de Banque as a private banker.

Christophe holds a Masters in Management, Finance and Economics from EDHEC Business School (1985) and is a Certified European Financial Analyst SFAF/EFFAS (2000). He is a Member of the Board of Examiners for EDHEC Business School admissions, a Member of the SFAF (French Financial Analysts’ Association) and the Club of Investment Strategists (Geneva).

Rakesh Sharma

Senior Director, Merchant Banking

Rakesh leads Stanhope Capital’s Merchant Banking team, and has over 15 years of experience in investment banking.

During his career he has advised FTSE100, FTSE250, and smaller companies on all aspects of corporate finance including mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, and secondary capital raisings.  Most recently he was at Panmure Gordon & Co, and prior to this, in the UK healthcare and chemicals corporate finance team at JPMorgan Cazenove.

Rakesh gained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Cambridge University, and a BSc in Chemistry from Imperial College.

Danny Brower

Head of Legal & Compliance

Danny is an English qualified lawyer. Danny was formerly a partner and the Head of the Financial Services Practice (London) of one of the largest international law firms.

He has also been Head of Legal (London) for a large hedge fund and wealth manager. Danny has advised numerous investment managers over the years in respect of their legal, regulatory and compliance activities. He was also a contributory author of a Financial Services Volume of the Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents published by Butterworths.

Malin Henschel

Head of Operational Due Diligence

Malin joined Stanhope in 2011 to form and head the Operational Due Diligence department.

She was previously at Olympia Capital Management where she was in charge of operational due diligence on European and Asian based hedge fund managers.

Malin is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds an MSc in corporate finance from Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.

Adam Greville-Collins

Senior Director, Portfolio Management

Adam has over sixteen years of experience in financial services, the majority in investment management. He is a Senior Director in the Portfolio Management team, which he joined in 2006.

Adam was formerly a private client portfolio manager at Premier Asset Management where he was also responsible for analysing alternative investment products.

Adam graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science with an LLB in Law. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, a Chartered Wealth Manager and holds the SII Diploma.

Anne Béjui-Thivolet

Senior Director, Portfolio Management

Anne is a Senior Director and joined the Portfolio Management Team in 2009.

She started her career at JPMorgan under their graduate programme and spent four years working in Investment Banking for the London Credit Derivatives Trading desk and in Credit Prime Brokerage. Prior to that Anne worked for JPMorgan Private Bank in Paris as an analyst for the Investor Team.

She holds a Masters in Finance (Hons) from Reims Management School (Grande Ecole).

Victoria Meyer

Head of Middle Office

Victoria is responsible for client reporting and reconciliation of custodial accounts. Victoria has been with Stanhope Capital for almost 10 years and previously worked for the head office for Stora Enso in Frankfurt for 12 years where she gained extensive experience in liquidity management, pensions and accounting.

Victoria also worked in Paris and Dublin and is fluent in 3 languages.
