Mr. Lee formed Lee Equity in 2006 and is Chairman of the firm. Prior to Lee Equity, Mr. Lee served as Chairman and CEO of Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THLP”) and its predecessors, which he founded in 1974. Over the past 46 years, Mr. Lee has been responsible for investing over $15 billion of capital in hundreds of transactions. Prior to founding THLP, Mr. Lee was with the First National Bank of Boston, where he was a Vice President and led the high technology lending group. Previously, Mr. Lee was a securities analyst in the institutional research department of L.F. Rothschild & Company in New York.
Mr. Lee serves or has served as a director of numerous public and private companies, including Aimbridge Hospitality, General Nutrition Companies, Inc., K-MAC Enterprises, Metris Companies, MidCap Financial, Papa Murphy’s, Playtex Products, Inc., Snapple Beverage Corp., The Edelman Financial Group, Vail Resorts, Inc., Vertis Holdings, Inc., Warner Music Group Corp., and Wyndham International, Inc., among others.
Mr. Lee is currently or has been a Trustee of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Museum of Modern Art, NYU Langone Medical Center, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among other civic and charitable organizations. He also serves on the Executive Committee for Harvard University’s Committee on University Resources. Mr. Lee received an A.B. in Economics from Harvard College.
